John Crane secures multi-year global framework deal with major energy operator

Announced in Dubai, the agreement formalises a long-term partnership aimed at improving equipment reliability, standardising performance, and addressing persistent challenges linked to inconsistent sealing technologies and service models. According to John Crane, the operator had been working for several years to shift its strategic focus from equipment availability to long-term reliability, with regional variations in sealing support contributing to avoidable downtime.

The framework agreement follows the successful implementation of a structured Managed Reliability Programme (MRP) at one of the operator’s flagship refineries. That site, now described as its best-performing location for seal reliability, served as the proof point for a broader global rollout. The MRP introduced standardised methodologies, proactive failure-prevention practices and tighter lifecycle governance, delivering measurable improvements that helped secure executive-level support for the new GFA.

Under the agreement, John Crane will supply a full portfolio of sealing technologies and lifecycle services, including pump mechanical seals, compressor dry gas seals, seal support systems, reliability programmes, failure analysis, field engineering and training. The unified model is intended to bring consistency and clearer accountability across all participating facilities.

The customer is expected to benefit from improved uptime, proactive failure prevention, reduced supplier complexity, stronger compliance with international standards, and more efficient long-term maintenance planning. The GFA also supports the operator’s wider goal of streamlining supplier engagement and strengthening global reliability governance.

“Our customers operate some of the most complex equipment in the world, and achieving reliability at scale requires consistency, discipline and strong technical partnership,” said Philippe Lambert, Vice President, Commercial & Service at John Crane. “Through this agreement, we will support the customer in building a unified, global reliability framework that reduces operational risk, improves uptime and ensures their critical rotating equipment performs predictably and efficiently.”
