TasNetworks has awarded Zinfra a five-year distribution and transmission services contract to deliver maintenance, capital works and emergency response services across Tasmania’s electricity network.
The contract builds on Zinfra’s 16-year partnership with TasNetworks and will see the energy infrastructure provider continue to support the operation, maintenance and development of the state’s electricity network.
Zinfra managing director Peter Iancov said the contract reinforces the company’s position in Australia’s energy operations and maintenance sector.
“Together, TasNetworks and Zinfra will support the reliable operation of Tasmania’s electricity network today while helping prepare the infrastructure needed to support the state’s future energy needs and transition,” he said.
“We already have a strong presence in Tasmania, built through our existing 16-year partnership with TasNetworks and our work on the Tasmanian Gas Pipeline. This experience gives our crews a strong understanding of the energy needs of local communities.”

Under the agreement, Zinfra will continue to deliver network construction, maintenance and operational services across Tasmania, while supporting local employment, skills development and business opportunities.
Zinfra power services general manager Vince Marziale said the contract would provide opportunities to invest in Tasmania’s workforce and local economy.
“Part of our commitment in delivering for our partners is our investment in opportunities for local people,” he said. “This includes prioritising local job opportunities, offering apprenticeship programs across the state and utilising local suppliers and businesses.
“Currently we have seven apprentices working across the TasNetworks contract, including two women, with plans to welcome more apprentices in 2027. I’m incredibly proud of the diverse workforce we’re building in Tasmania and the opportunities we’re creating for the next generation.”
TasNetworks executive operations Kevin McGrath said the contract would support investment in capital works, skilled labour, apprentice training and local Tasmanian businesses.
“This change is an important decision for the business as we transition from a panel of contracted services to a single strategic partner to provide the existing component of TasNetworks’ regulated network Program of Work,” McGrath said.
“This approach will enable us to have a more streamlined approach to the various challenges we face, such as ageing assets across our network and in the fault detection and restoration space.”
The agreement marks a shift from TasNetworks’ existing panel of contracted service providers to a single strategic partner for the delivery of its regulated network program of work.
Iancov said Zinfra would continue working with TasNetworks to meet the changing needs of customers and support the reliable delivery of electricity to homes and businesses across the state.
