Amarinth delivers chemical injection skids for Nigeria LNG fields

UK pump specialist Amarinth has completed the manufacture and delivery of a £1.5 million order for four bespoke API 675 chemical injection skid packages for LNG field operations in Nigeria’s Niger Delta. The skids will be deployed at the Soku and Gbaran LNG fields, where they will support gas supply to the Nigeria LNG (NLNG) plant at Bonny Island. The fields are operated by Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited and are known for challenging environmental and operating conditions.

Designed to protect pipeline infrastructure, the skid packages will carry out precision chemical injection to prevent corrosion and scale build-up in gas transport systems. The delivered order comprises two specialised sets of equipment: a biocide injection skid paired with an oxygen scavenger injection skid, and a second package combining a biocide injection skid with a scale inhibitor injection skid.

Each skid has been built to API 675 standards and includes advanced instrumentation such as actuated valves and remote monitoring transmitters. These features enable operators to control and monitor chemical dosing from centralised control rooms.

To address the logistical and installation challenges associated with the Niger Delta, Amarinth engineered the skids with a compact footprint and delivered them fully pre-assembled and factory tested. This “ready-to-run” configuration included structural components and critical spare parts, reducing the amount of hazardous on-site work required during installation.

For the Soku LNG field project specifically, Amarinth developed a bespoke support frame allowing the skid packages to be installed directly over existing concrete plinths. This enabled integration within the facility’s current building dimensions without requiring additional civil works.

The company also designed the skids to fit within standard shipping containers, simplifying transport across Nigeria’s road network and avoiding the need for special permits.

Delivery of the project was supported by local partner Elkarino Nigeria Ltd.

Reflecting on the project, Amarinth managing director Oliver Brigginshaw said: “The delivery of these skids within a demanding 39-week timeframe is a testament to our engineering agility and our commitment to the African energy sector. Nigeria ranks tenth in global petroleum reserves, and this latest project further underlines our lead in providing sustainable, high-performance solutions for critical energy infrastructure around the globe.”
