UltiLobe is a new generation of rotary lobe pumps with a hygienic design that expands Inoxpa´s portfolio of positive displacement pumps. This premium pump is suitable for a broad range of fluids, of either low or high viscosity, for use in the food and beverage, dairy, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and fine chemicals industries.
With seven frame sizes and three different rotors per frame, this results in a total of 21 pump models, with flow rates up to 340 m3/h and differential pressures up to 20 bar, offering larger capacity and higher pressures compared to previous models. The standard rotors are tri-lobes, but other rotor types will be available, depending on the product to be pumped.
Inside the pump, all the product wetted steel parts are in AISI-316L, with an internal surface finish of RA<0,8 μm, as standard. If needed, smoother surface finishes are possible. All the elastomers in contact with the product, comply with the most stringent certifications of the food industry, as they are certified, as standard, according to EC-1935/2004 and FDA.
Their hygienic design allows for efficient cleaning without disassembly – supporting both CIP (Cleaning in Place) and SIP (Sterilization in Place), saving valuable time and resources. For added flexibility, COP (Cleaning out of Place) is also possible. When mounted with vertical ports, the pumps are automatically self-draining.
The front cover´s elastomer features a unique shape, in order to completely fill its housing with a defined compression, avoiding any dead zone. It also has four drainage channels, which in the event of elastomer damage, allow the fluid to leak to the outside for an easy visual detection. Besides, the leakage avoids the possibility of product stagnation inside the pump.
The standard sealing system of the UltiLobe pumps is made of two single mechanical seals (one per shaft). They are internal seals, so all their pieces are inside the seal chamber and positioned in the product flow, to assure the best possible cleaning by means of a CIP procedure. Their design is completely hygienic without any dead zone. Although they are internal, they are fully front loading, so they can be serviced in place, while the pump casing remains connected to the pipes. If needed, other sealing options are possible, like single-quenched or double mechanical seals.
The gearbox is made entirely of stainless steel. This prevents rust and pitting, that are common concerns with painted gearboxes, especially during washdowns or in corrosive atmospheres. Inside the gearbox, a pair of precision helical gears will ensure a high torque with smooth operation and reduced noise. The tapered roller bearings will provide high load capacity minimizing friction and wear. This will allow higher operating speeds and lead to an increased durability.
All of these elements are mounted on a bearing frame, also made of stainless steel and manufactured as a single piece, that provides a superior robustness and stability to the whole pump. The shafts are designed with a large diameter and reduced length, in order to prevent bending due to sporadic pressure peaks.
